Vesicular Stomatitis Outbreak in Arizona (from theHorse.com) The first cases of vesicular stomatitis this year were reported in three horses in Cochise County, Ariz. Vesicular stomatitis is sporadically occurring virus that causes blister-like lesions in the mouth and on the dental pad, tongue, lips, nostrils, hooves, prepuce, and teats of livestock. The disease most frequently occurs during warmer months in the southwestern United States.

Kentucky has since imposed travel restrictions on livestock entering the state from areas of Southeast Arizona. No livestock (including horses) that originate from within a 10-mile radius of any premises under a vesicular stomatitis quarantine are permitted entry into Kentucky. For up-to-date information on travel restrictions into Kentucky visit the Office of the State Veterinarian website.

NEW FOR 2010 - EPRHA Volunteer Requirements This year members must volunteer at least one (1) hour at a jackpot or other EPRHA event in order to be eligible for a year end award. (gate, scribe, office, set up, clean up, etc.) Click here for complete year end awards criteria.

EPHRA Wanted List. We can't do it without your help. The EPRHA membership is a reining family, and we all work together to get things done. Now is your opportunity to become more involved.  Volunteers are needed at our jackpot shows, and we're looking for a donation:
  • Scribes - Scribes are needed for our jackpot shows. You can contact Rocky if you'd like to scribe for one of our jackpot shows.  Interested in scribing but don't know how?  Not to worry - we'll teach you how!
  • Tractor Operator - We're looking for someone to operate the tractor and drag during the jackpot shows. Brian Lessig will do the ground preparation work prior to the show, but we need someone to drag the arena during the show. Please contact Brian if you're interested in helping with this.
  • EPRHA needs a Laptop - Thanks to the Boykins for their generous donation.  This laptop will be used to manage our jackpot shows.

The 2010 Show Schedule is available. Click here for more information.
